 Do you know what I think is amazing? When women follow their hearts. When they truly put their mind to something and go for it. It takes amazing bravery and a fighting spirit to face down your fears. I think is heroic. Sooooo....I want to tell you about an idea I had. I started thinking about all the amazing women in this group that are being brave and inspirational and following their dreams and passions with their small businesses. I know what is takes to be self employed...That shit is tough. Trust me. Its not a 9 to 5. Its a "errday, allday" kinda thing. I wanted to honor them and their hard work. Gut wrenching, devastating, life flipped, foggy, desperate, determined, hopeful... I had been praying, seeking and waking up at night with thoughts of what can I do? What do I want to accomplish in whatever "it" is? I want to connect to people. I want to be more connected, to other women, other moms. I want to do something that gives me the ability to pursue creativity and personal expression. I want to do something fun. I want to do something that can potentially inspire others and put myself out there. I have been a stay at home mom for 10 years and was at a place of needing to go back to school or seek work when I got pregnant with Captain. What a wonderful blessing he and Casey have been to the kids and I. Yet, it is back at square one with my position as a stay at home mom. It is my heart to keep this position filled. I bring you Lularoe because I instantly saw the potential to create an environment of community and connection with women. I bring you Lularoe because it allows me to be creative and personally express myself.  Rachael was an amazing muse. She was one of my very first model calls back in February. She had a friend with an amazing victorian house that agreed to let us shoot in his home! So Shainee and I brought all of our stuff and hauled it up a bunch of stairs and set up. Rachael rocked her session! I had no doubt she would because this lady is vivacious, fun, and outgoing.  There are a lot of times that I get ladies messaging me about the details of a session. Most of the time it's about what to wear, what's included, where they are located,etc. I thought it may be a good idea to put the details all in one place... 1. Where are you located? I am located in St. Augustine Florida. It is right outside of Jacksonville. Located about 5 minutes from the beach we have everything from studio space to the intercoastal waterways to the beach. Take your pick!!! 2. Can I bring a friend? I think these sessions are pretty intimate and most ladies prefer to do this on their own. But sometimes a client wants to bring a friend because they are nervous. That is totally ok, just let me know ahead of time. No problem!  3. Will my session be on the internet? You have a choice! First of all, the private Blush ladies only FB group is PRIVATE. Noone outside the group can see those! Either way- you decide. You decide if you want to sign a model release. Sometimes client sign model releases for just "incognito shots" or just details and no identifying images. Most of the time, at the reveal, ladies sign a full release because they know i am respectful and will only choose images they love! 4. What do I wear? When you book a session with blush we will help you to pick the perfect looks for your session. We usually do 3 looks. 2 outfits and one "white sheet" look. I will send a prep guide with details on where to shop, look, etc. But I also have a client closet that you will have access to!! It is filled with some amazing pieces, mens shirts, sweaters..and shoes! 5. Do you edit the images? I do! I want women to see their true beauty and love themselves for who they are. Because of that I try not to do too much heavy editing. I will clean up a blemish or breakout and soften skin. But I won't change how you look drastically! I want this session to be about the woman that lives inside you!  6. How will I know how to pose? Don't worry about that at all! I pose you from fingertips to toes! I actually will have you move over and get right in there with you. I promise you- we will do this together!!!! We will both be sore by the end of it. 7. What if I am not in "the best shape"? What if I am uncomfortable with my body? We all are. That is part of the point of these sessions. We need to learn to embrace our bodies. I want you to come away from this experience feeling empowered ...no matter what your body looks like. I want to celebrate how FLAWSOME you are! Trust me...posing and wardrobe are everything! 8. I am super nervous..Is that normal? COMPLETELY!!! it would be weird if you weren't! I promise you we will walk thru this together! We will laugh and maybe cry as we walk towards a woman that may be unsure of herself. We will take her hand and pull her up! We will climb the mountain together! But - I also know that not all of you will ever end up in front of my camera. So I wanted to make this group a place where ALL women, not just my clients, could come and read something inspiring, or find a quote that resonates with them. I wanted it to be a place where women could come and feel safe KNOWING that there are other women who will support you and lift you up. I think it has become that...and more. It has become a place that I have found peace. It has become a place that women write me about. It has become a spot in women's lives that feels safe. A bit of a safe haven from all the mental pollution we endure ...out there. And as the group and my business has grown..I have noticed something undeniable.. EMPOWERMENT IS CONTAGIOUS! When I started my journey into boudoir photography, I was not aware that in this work I would find.. forgiveness truth confidence and SELF love. I know that when I started this... I wanted to show women how beautiful THEY were. I wanted to show them that how they see themselves alot of the times-is not how others see them. I wanted to awaken the inner rebel in a woman. I wanted to light a fire. I wanted to make them FEEL themselves. It was all about THEM. I just wasn't aware of what would happen to ME. To be honest...I never once thought about how any of this would change or affect me... at all. It never dawned on me. I wasn't aware that by simply empowering other women to love themselves...would spark a fire in my soul. By encouraging others to love themselves,honor their bodies and own their sexuality.... I have awakened a different woman in my heart AND I have learned about the power of the ripple effect. I have learned that ... by speaking words of empowerment..others will be empowered. I have learned that.. by seeing truth in others...you will see truth in yourself. I have learned that... by simply loving others...you will learn to love yourself. Its the simple act of defiance...against negativity. By doing this...she emerged. A new rebel, for a new war. you see... Rebellion is nothing new to me. But- for most of my life- I did alot of rebelling against my self and my body. I spent alot of time engaging in a conversation with myself that was NOT healthy. I literally rebeled against myself and my mind. But this...this is different. This is real rebellion. This battle is a battle for your life. Its for inner peace and truth. And THIS battle... this battle is won daily. Its won by rebelling against my own thoughts and unfounded feelings. It's won everytime i silence my doubts. Its won each time I see face me fears and set an example.. It creates power. and THAT...causes a ripple effect. By being empowered... you encourage other women and young girls to rebel against: self hate self loathing negativity fear and doubt. And THAT is true rebellion. That is winning the WAR. Morgan was my 1st client in the studio. She is an amazing aerialist and an all around bad ass! She drove from Tampa in the rain to make her session and she brought the most beautiful outfits! This girl has amazing taste...like killer taste. He session was so meaningful to me because it was a turning point. I knew it was going to work. I knew the studio was an amazing place to shoot...rain or shine. I love every single one of her images. She rocked her session out!   |
